Season 4 of Last Epoch is almost here, and there’s a lot to get excited about. Omen Windows – The New Seasonal Mechanic

 

The core new feature in Season 4 is Omen Windows. This mechanic introduces an exciting new area where players can shatter an omen window, which will spawn special fractured enemies. Defeating these enemies causes the area to expand and progress, leading to even more challenges.

 

These Omen Enemies are powerful and serve as the central focus for a variety of new loot and mechanics. When enough waves are defeated, the Omen will absorb the enemies’ strength and eventually attack you directly, dropping powerful loot as a result. But that’s not all—two new game-changing items will drop from these Omen enemies.

 

The first item is the Rune of Corruption, a high-risk, high-reward mechanic that lets you corrupt items. Corrupting an item can result in it being completely ruined or, if you're lucky, it might gain new and extremely powerful properties. Some of the potentially corrupted stats include bonuses like "+1 to all skills," increased minion flat damage, and the ability to convert intelligence to madness. Madness? We’ll get to that soon, but imagine the possibilities this opens up for min-maxing your gear.

 

Corrupting items is a familiar concept in ARPGs, but Last Epoch is adding new layers of risk and reward with this system. For example, you could corrupt a secondary item you’re considering replacing, and if you get a good result, it could give your build a massive boost.

 

Timeless Fragments and Greater Omen Windows

 

The second item that can drop from Omen Enemies is Timeless Fragments, a new multi-use currency that plays a significant role in the endgame. You can use these fragments to trade for runes of corruption and woven echoes, among other things. This currency will also be important for unlocking a more challenging version of the Omen Window, known as the Greater Window, which is tied to the new Echo Chain mechanic.

 

The Greater Window transforms into a Timeglass Core when completed, allowing you to spend Timeglass Fragments to modify your Echo Web. This is still a mystery in some respects, but it promises to bring exciting new endgame content, and I'm eager to see what it brings.

 

Echo Chains – A New Endgame Mechanic

 

Echo Chains are a brand new way to approach the Monolith of Fate and other endgame systems in Last Epoch. This mechanic allows you to chain echoes together, making your endgame experience more fluid and rewarding. The different chains will be centered around specific mechanics, enabling you to engage with particular mechanics over multiple echoes before culminating in a more rewarding one.

 

As you complete echo chains, you'll receive woven echoes, which are potentially high-reward echoes. This new system gives players more control over the types of echoes they want to experience, as well as the kinds of rewards they’re looking for. Plus, the addition of a quick portal system ensures that you won’t have to constantly return to the Monolith Hub to progress further, streamlining the entire process.

 

One key change is that at least one Weaver Tree node will increase the spawn rate of echo chains, ensuring that players can interact with these new mechanics more frequently. This should provide a fresh and exciting layer to the endgame grind.

 

Rogue Gets Two New Skills

 

Character building is about to get a lot more interesting in Season 4, especially for the Rogue class. There are two brand-new skills coming for the Rogue in Season 4, and they’re huge additions to the game.

 

The first skill is Bladestorm, which was originally a node in the Umbral Blade skill tree. Now, it’s been extracted and made into a standalone skill with its own dedicated skill tree. The new Bladestorm allows players to spec into various ailment damage types, including bleed, poison, and frostbite, giving Rogue players the ability to adapt their damage type for different builds.

 

Even more exciting, the Bladestorm skill tree features a node that triggers Shurikens automatically every 2 seconds. This is an awesome synergy for fans of skills that trigger other skills. It’s a mechanic that adds a lot of dynamism to gameplay.

 

The second new skill for the Rogue is Shadow Rend. This skill allows the Rogue to create and manipulate shadows in combat. When activated, Shadow Rend deals an initial quick strike and then leaves behind a shadow that deals a much stronger delayed attack. It’s a unique mechanic that ties in with the Rogue’s shadow-themed abilities and offers new ways to build around that playstyle.

 

Skill and Passive Tree Changes

 

Beyond new skills, Last Epoch is making numerous changes to existing skills and passive trees. For example, the Necromancer’s Summon Skeleton Mage skill will now be affected by the Hungering Souls tree, making these Death Knight mages far more powerful. This change will significantly improve the viability of this build and make it more appealing for players who love scaling minion damage.

 

The Spellblade mastery is also undergoing a major overhaul. Previously, the Spellblade mastery converted mana spent on melee attacks to ward, but now it will convert melee damage on weapons into added spell damage. This is a huge buff that opens up more build possibilities, combining melee and spell damage in exciting new ways.

 

The Blade Dancer mastery is also getting some love, with new passive nodes that will increase damage based on your Dexterity. If you hit 100 Dexterity, you get a bonus to glancing blow chance, attack speed, and movement speed—perfect for those who like to build around Dexterity.

Season 4 will also introduce several quality-of-life improvements. The loot filter is being enhanced to allow even more specific filtering, helping players avoid breaking immersion by filtering out unwanted loot. Additionally, the game is getting some cool new cosmetics, including fairy-themed items and wings, though fans hope for even more exciting MTX (microtransactions) in the future.

 

There will also be animation improvements, especially for the Rogue and Primalist classes. Rogue animations are getting overhauled to include smoother idle, running, and evasion animations. The Primalist will also see improved combat and movement animations, making them feel more fluid and immersive.

 

New Unique Items

 

Season 4 will also introduce new, unique items that will significantly impact build crafting. For example, Ashwake Boots convert the Aura of Decay into fire damage, opening up a whole new set of possibilities for Acolyte builds focused on ignite damage. Another cool item is Rahyeh's Embrace, which turns your Storm Crows and Spriggan into fire-based minions, adding more versatility to Primalist builds.
